Membership in the CATA is divided into the following categories:

Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) - a voting member who is able to practice as a Certified Athletic Therapist.

Certification Candidate - a non-voting member who is a student of athletic therapy in the process of collecting their 1200 hours, or completing certification exams.

Associate - now a closed category, they are voting members who are affiliated through qualifications in other areas within the sports medicine community.

Honorary - is a non-voting member who is nominated into membership due to significant contribution to the advancement of Athletic Therapy.

Member Emeritus - a non-voting previously certified member who has been nominated into emeritus due to prior contributions to the profession of Athletic Therapy.

International Temporary - a non-voting member who is NATA BOC certified and will attempt certification within one year.

Certified International Voting - a voting member who holds residence outside of Canada.

Certified International Non-Voting - a member who has met and maintained the certification requirement of the CATA but are not legally allowed to work in Canada.

 

**Only students enrolled in a CATA accredited program are eligible for membership application.  Other applications will not be valid.
